We've seen many small changes in our love child Ditz since it's birth a few short semesters ago. Now the time has come for a big one, one that will pick us up out of school and thrust us into the real world. We are graduating, which means adjustments will be made to keep this publication growing. Our scope will broaden beyond Occidental College and grow to include an even vaster range of contributors and subjects than we've had in the past. What began as a for-credit experiment will stretch its legs out and become a new beast.
It's been hard to ignore the metaphorical comparisons between the magazine and our own lives lately. While our work here has suffered its own growing pains, we have had to come to terms with a new set of responsibilities in life. From paying our own bills and cooking our own meals to deciding on political candidates, this has indeed been a year for change.
In this issue, we've tried to tackle our fear of that scary word "responsibility" head-on. We've included many articles on life's duties and the decision-making that comes with them. Is it such a good idea to kiss your friends at a party and post photos of it in a public online forum? Should you get that wrist tattoo, or will it set you back in the competitive impending world of professional interviews? Just how should you be preparing for that dog-eat-dog job race?
We hope this issue helps you settle some of these inner qualms as you steel yourself for the gloomy months (or years) to come. Chances are, they won't be the best days our bank accounts have seen, but that doesn't mean they can't be thrilling, fulfilling, or even downright fun.

We'd like to thank Mackenzie Isarel-Trummel for posing as a broke young professional for our cover this issue. It's not an easy position to assume, but we think she did it with style.
We'd also like to thank Caroline Heldman and Robert Sipchen for their continued advice and guidance in this little lovechild publication of ours. It really wouldn't be possible without their inspiration.
